From July 31 to August 21, I will be attempting to paint in the eight National Parks in Alaska.

Alaska - 1
Flying into Anchorage, Chugach State Park
From July 31 - August 21 I traveled to Alaska's 8 National Parks. I barely scratched the surface. Only 3 of the parks- Denali, Wrangell-St.Elias, Kenai Fjords- can be driven to. The remaining 5 parks - Gates of the Arctic, Kobuk Valley, Katmai, Lake Clark and Glacier Bay- are accessible only by bush plane, boat or on foot.
The "getting there", moving over and through these vast wild spaces, was as much a part of the journey as the incredible landscape itself.
From Eielsen - Denali National Park
The trip yielded 24 field studies, oil sketches, 6 watercolors, several sketchbooks, 4000 photos, videos, and more. It was for me, as I am sure it has been for so many others, an intense experience. The input, the breathing in, was immense, and the breathing out, the work of painting from it all, promises to be the same.
I know I will return.
